Timico completes 21CN trials

One of the UK's fastest growing business Internet Service Provider rolls out production 16Mbps ADSL based on ADSL2+

Newark, UK - May 6th, 2009 - Timico Group, one of the UK's fastest growing business-only ISPs today announced full availability for its 16Mbps ADSL service, utilising the BT 21CN network. The company was one of the small number of ISPs signed up as an early triallist by BT when it launched its 21CN broadband service last year.

Trefor Davies, CTO at Timico says "We have been careful not to rush too quickly into using the BT 21CN network. As it was a new network we felt it was important to make sure that the customer experience matched our own business quality requirements and in rolling out more and more trial connections we have been getting more of a feel for the actual performance capabilities of the network."

Having trialed circuits with a few hundred customers, Timico will be marketing its broadband service using the BT 21CN network to businesses in migrated exchange areas that are able to receive it.

"ADSL2+ is marketed as a 24Mbps technology but in fact it is unlikely that customers will achieve such high connection speeds as the actual speed achieved is very dependent on the customer's distance from the exchange and the quality of their line. Because of this, we are promoting our offering as an "up to 16Mbps" service. As with existing ADSL connections, users experience a range of speeds. The highest we have seen is 19Mbps so there is a chance that people could get a faster connection than advertised" continued Trefor Davies.

Transparency for business customers is very important, as is responsive and professional support. Timico is extremely proud of its technical service levels which we provide free of charge to customers. The company operates exclusively in the UK with its own in-house staff, rather than outsourcing customer support functions to UK or overseas contractors.

ADSL2+ is being added to the portfolio of products available through Timico's Business Partner programme, as well as being launched for Timico's SME and corporate customers whose businesses are based in BT Exchanges which are already 21CN-enabled. Timico looks forward to being able to offer the service to a growing number of companies over the coming months, allowing them to take advantage of the higher speeds to run more bandwidth-hungry applications such as IP telephony and video conferencing.
