Timico Launches Central Pipe Novation Service
Delivers significant cost savings to enterprises through outsource of WAN and management
Newark, UK - March 13th, 2009 - Timico Group, a leading Unified Communications service provider to the UK business market, today announced the launch of a new novation service solution which will deliver large cost savings for enterprises looking to cut their wide area networking costs. Enterprises who have their own BT Centrals connected to the BT IP Stream network are now able to transfer (novate) their users over to the larger, more resilient Timico network, and at the same time remove the Capital Expenditure headache of any expansion requirements.
The novation process can take as little as a month and the customer benefits include reduced network running costs, the removal of quantum investment discussions, and access to faster ADSL2+ connections where the exchange is enabled.
"In the UK, many large businesses previously established a direct relationship with BT in order to manage their own ADSL estate using IP Stream. In the early days of broadband this could make sense if a company had the economies of scale to do it. However, as usage patterns change and users are being affected by flexible working initiatives, these legacy ADSL connections can hold enterprises back from being able to use, and benefit from, advanced IP services. Timico's Novation Service overcomes these limitations in a very cost effective way and delivers a level of management which would not normally be possible for non ISP companies who use IP Stream," says Trefor Davies, CTO at Timico.
There are a number of reasons why nowadays it makes technical and financial sense for an enterprise to transfer its own ADSL network to Timico:
- Increasing levels of usage drives the need for larger BT Central pipes. This means that enterprises are often restricted in both performance and flexibility as they carry a fixed investment and operating cost, regardless of the number of users, with prohibitive step installation increments incurred when increased capacity is required.
- BT Central pipes of 34Mbps or less do not support L2TP, which is the technology basis for the modern MPLS Private Wide Area Networks that are far more efficient than traditional PPP/IP Sec based Virtual Private Networks. The Timico network is fully L2TP compliant.
- Increased availability is driving users towards faster 21CN-based ADSL2+ connections which require totally separate connectivity infrastructure. Timico provide an upgrade path, so that customers' users can be automatically upgraded to ADSL2+ as soon as availability to 21CN is rolled out in their area.
Timico provides full project management for the novation process and ensures that customers are provided with a lower cost, more resilient solution, all supported by Timico's high level professional management and network monitoring services.
Timico has already novated three substantial ADSL networks in recent months, including at The Stroke Association. Following Timico's work, The Stroke Association users are now able to upgrade their ADSL lines to faster speeds with improved performance, and those eligible in 21CN exchanges can now benefit from even higher speeds. This will enable the Association to start exploiting the new MPLS connections and start to run cost saving videoconferencing.
Chris Tombs, Chief Executive of Timico Group, comments: "Businesses today want to run more and more bandwidth-hungry applications and services. To achieve this, they need a service-oriented partner like Timico who can provide secure and reliable IP connectivity at cost effective prices today and into the future. Our underlying infrastructure, our in-house technical expertise and the strong partnerships that we have, position Timico perfectly to rival the bigger network providers who are often less flexible in their approach and unable to deliver personal service."
