Systems Project Manager
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Salary: £45k pa. Fixed term contract for 15 months with possible extension.
Job summary: In 2010, Timico is about to embark on an important developmental phase in the life of our business, that will see us develop our IP connectivity, hosting and management services into a growing base of SME and corporate customers. We are now at a stage where significant planning, time, and capital investment is required to develop and install a new integrated system for managing our business, in order that we can take advantage of operational efficiencies and gearing as we continue to grow organically, and through further acquisitions.

This role has the responsibility for delivering the new systems, from requirements capture to a final customer migration. This role will be responsible for managing our chosen vendor, and internal colleagues (of all levels) to deliver the specification, solution design, comprehensive testing, and Implementation. The new business system will combine an integrated business process engine, a new telecoms billing and CRM platform and a leading-edge e-suite of customer and channel management tools.

Normal Project Management headline KPIs of "on-time" and "within budget" will prevail in this role, however success in this role will also be measured in terms of staff engagement and an ability to personally contribute to the redesign of the processes that we use to provision services and deliver service for our customers, in a way which drives out cost, without compromising quality.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • To develop, own and manage the overall project plan for delivering our new business system, within agreed timescales, milestones and budgets; from formulation of requirement specification, through to state of "Business as Usual" post go-live
  • To be responsible for all communications surrounding the project and its implementation to senior management, stakeholders, the project team and the wider Company
  • To create the structure (people and format) for project review and to lead the inputs and updates delivered to the project board
  • To provide the principal interface to the vendor management team
  • To manage a virtual team of internal subject matter experts, and to distribute responsibilities to be executed on a timely basis
  • To plan and co-ordinate skills transfer and training across the Company as required
Ideal candidate: The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to reference previous projects of similar scale and complexity for which they have previous experience of delivering
  • Be a sound practitioner of project management disciplines, including excellent communication skills, and a strong conviction for ownership and accountability
  • Have an ability to evoke creative and innovative thinking and contributions from team members
  • Have experience of working in the telecommunications industry and its products/ services
  • Have experience of working in a B2B marketplace in a service orientated organisation
  • Should live within 45 minutes drive of Newark
Minimum qualifications and relevant experience:
  • We are looking for a qualified Systems Project Manager, with a demonstrable track record, who is up for the challenge of delivering a totally new business system
  • Excellent communications with all colleagues and stakeholders are a must. Issues need to be confronted openly and quickly, whilst updates on progress of the project need to inspire motivation and maintain the pace required
  • Certification in PRINCE II project management
  • Experience in management of risk
  • Minimum ITIL certification of foundation level
