Timico will soon be providing super fast, next generation broadband at up to 40Mbps

Newark, UK - April 26th, 2010 - Timico Fibre Broadband is especially designed to help businesses meet the ever growing requirements of bandwidth hungry applications. With download speeds of up to 40Mbps* and upload speeds of up to 10Mbps, this technology offers the kind of performance previously available only via costly private data circuits.

Fibre Broadband, also known as Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC), is delivered to premises over a standard telephone line, just like ADSL. Unlike ADSL it utilises special equipment installed in the nearest BT street cabinet, which is then connected back to the local telephone exchange using high speed fibre optic cables. This means that the broadband signal only has to travel a short distance between a business's premises and the street cabinet and hence a much faster service is possible.

Initially Fibre Broadband will be available in a small number of locations, but this will quickly grow as the service is switched on in major towns and cities throughout the UK. The rollout plan identifies 5 phases which when complete will see the service reaching 7.5 million UK homes and business by summer 2012.

Installing Timico Fibre Broadband will open up a range of new possibilities for businesses which bandwidth constraints could previously have made impractical. An example would be how companies will now be able to rollout better connectivity to home-based staff, supporting flexible working and reducing demand on office space. Also the deployment of Voice over IP (VoIP) services, which can help reduce the cost of renting traditional fixed lines will be more cost effective as well as introducing new collaborative applications such as video conferencing and online meetings, which can dramatically help reduce unnecessary time and money spent on business travel.
